Professional Bio
Kurth’s practice is centered on nonprofit and exempt organizations, estate planning, political subdivisions and municipalities, and corporate and commercial law. During his nearly 30 year legal career, he has served as legal counsel for multiple charities and religious organizations, advised public entities on a wide range of matters, and represented individuals, families, and businesses in numerous transactions. He has represented clients before public bodies, argued before the Nebraska Supreme Court, and testified before the Nebraska Legislature.
Prior to Rembolt Ludtke, Kurth was the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Concordia University, Nebraska. In that role, he oversaw fundraising, alumni relations, church relations, and community relations for the university and the operations of Concordia Foundation Nebraska, its supporting organization. During his tenure, Concordia supporters provided more than $134,000,000 to the university, including the largest capital and endowment gifts in its history, during two comprehensive campaigns that funded multiple academic buildings, endowed departments and programs, and provided annual fund growth.
Admitted to practice in Nebraska and South Dakota, Kurth is an elected member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Fifth District of the Nebraska Court of Appeals, has presented at legal conferences on issues involving exempt organizations, and has presented on both legal issues and fundraising to various nonprofits. Kurth is a member of the Rotary Club of Seward, a trustee of the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation., was previously board chair of Children’s Scholarship Fund of Omaha, and is active in his congregation and denomination.
