Organization Overview
Since 1896, VNA has filled critical gaps in area healthcare, helping to build a stronger, healthier community. VNA delivers compassionate care to over 40,000 members of our community who would otherwise not have access to essential healthcare through the following services:
» Shelter Nursing - Healthcare for those living in every area homeless and domestic violence shelter, area maternity home, and on the streets of Omaha/Council Bluffs.
» Parenting Support - Essential, home-based healthcare services for high risk, historically and systematically underserved families. Nurses, Family Support Workers, Social Workers, and Lactation Consultants care and support families over a period of one to three years, beginning prenatally or shortly after the birth of their child.
» Home Health Aide - Personal care services for vulnerable and aging individuals, supporting their health, safety, and independence to remain living at home. Activities include bathing, grooming, dressing, and light household duties such as meal preparation.
» School Nursing - Promoting wellness and physical, mental, and health services at 62 public, private, and parochial schools.
» Other Community Care – Immunizations, childbirth education classes, financial assistance to help address health-related needs, and child safety education and resources.
