Professional Bio

Tara is the grants and development director for the Mourning Hope Grief Center. She has over 14 years of professional employment with non-profit organizations, honing skills for fundraising, grant writing, event coordination, and operations. Before joining Mourning Hope, Tara was the grants director for Nebraska Wesleyan University after serving on the sponsored programs teams of Washburn University in Kansas and Willamette University in Oregon. As a grant writer, her success includes proposals to numerous federal agencies; state agencies in Kansas, Mississippi, Nebraska and Oregon; and dozens of corporate and community foundations. She received a B.A. in Music from Southern Methodist University in Texas before earning a Master’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Non-profit Management from Roosevelt University in Illinois. She also holds the Certified Research Administrator credential and is pursuing the Certified Fund Raising Executive credential.
