Nonprofit Insurance

NAM members have access to organizational insurance coverage to ensure assets and leadership are protected. Through our partnership with FNIC, we help nonprofits secure the right coverage so you can focus on your mission with peace of mind.

Insurance Types Available

These are essential safeguards for nonprofit organizations and their leadership.

  • D&O Insurance protects nonprofit directors and officers from personal financial liability due to lawsuits alleging "wrongful acts." It also reimburses the nonprofit for any required indemnification under bylaws or state laws. Many individuals are reluctant to serve on a nonprofit board without D&O coverage, as they could otherwise be held personally responsible for damages.

  • EPLI Insurance shields nonprofits from employment-related claims, including wrongful termination, failure to hire or promote, discrimination, and sexual harassment. Many nonprofits lack in-house HR professionals to manage these risks, making EPLI a critical safety net.

D&O and EPLI policies are often bundled, with the option for shared or separate coverage limits based on the nonprofit’s needs.

Nonprofits are not immune to financial crimes like embezzlement, theft, break-ins, and cyberattacks – all of which can have devastating consequences. Losing money or assets to fraud or theft can quickly put an organization at risk. Locks and policies aren’t enough, a well-designed Crime Insurance program is essential. This option will help assess your risk and recommend the right coverage and limits to keep your organization protected.

Nonprofits face unique liability risks, whether serving children, the elderly, or the general public. A specialized nonprofit insurance program is essential to protect your assets and maintain eligibility for city, county, state, federal, and private funding. This program partners with five nonprofit specialty carriers that understand your specific risks and offer customized liability coverage that standard insurers often won’t provide. Take advantage of free risk assessments and coverage audits to help ensure your organization is properly protected.
