Planned Giving Demystified

It’s easy to find yourself paralyzed by the complexities and minutiae of complicated planned giving vehicles - and to become convinced that planned giving is way beyond your reach. But really, it’s not.

This workshop will help even the smallest shops focus on ways to effectively and efficiently “get in the game” with planned giving. We will avoid the arcane detail of the more complex planned gifts and will instead focus on basic action steps for developing a planned giving strategy that works for your organization. We’ll help participants develop an appreciation for the fundamental difference between a donor’s income and assets, and how to focus on the most likely and straightforward gifts that will convert those assets into end-of-life contributions to your organization. We’ll also discuss how to make your organization a “planned giving kind of place.”

Participants will develop an understanding of the financial and psychological motivations for donors, and how, even if you are a small nonprofit, you can create and develop a successful and impactful planned giving program that can complement and enhance your annual fundraising efforts.
